2017 Elections
Voting in local municipal elections is one of the most effective ways
you can affect the direction of our town - the people you choose
to serve on the Board of Education and the Board of Finance, as well as
the Board of Selectmen, will make decisions about policy,
taxes, education, development - indeed all of the elements of local
governance. While not as dramatic as a presidential or gubernatorial
election, the outcome is likely to have more immediate effects on your
day-to-day life.
For up-to-the-minute information about and by the candidates,
be sure to visit the Stonington
Republican Town Committee facebook page.

Treasurer
John Delmhorst
I’m running for
Town Treasurer because my qualifications and experience
are perfect. I’m the current President of the Stonington Fire
District. I have a long history of volunteering as
Treasurer/Assistant Treasurer/Auditor for many Stonington
not-forprofits and similar businesses. In my professional
career I worked in banking for thirty-six years, retiring as Vice
President in commercial lending. I’ve worked as a volunteer
fireman for over fifty years in various positions and currently serve
as Captain, Fire Police, in the Stonington Borough Fire Department and
as a member of the Pawcatuck Fire Department Fire Police. My
financial experience and dedication to public service demonstrates that
I’m your best choice for Town Treasurer.

Board of
Finance
This year you will be voting for 4 members. If you vote for Rich
Balestracci, Blunt White, Lynn Young, and Lance Hamilton, you will be
voting for a team that respects your concerns and opinions, and that
has the right combination of financial skills and knowledge of
Stonington to steer our town through the potential loss of millions of
dollars of state aid. We can’t fix the state’s financial problems but
we will work hard to keep Stonington affordable while continuing to
provide the services and public education we all depend on.
If elected, we pledge to:
• Use our financial skills
to get all citizens the best value for their tax dollars.
• Improve transparency of town finances, and encourage everyone to
